Force Transducers - "Force transducers of the third kind" - the KG series

The KG force transducers are based on modern optics.  The force sensing element is positioned between an LED and a diode array.  This makes the transducer very stable, nearly temperature insensitive, and almost indestructible due to the lack of physical connection between force sensing element and force detection system.  Hence they come with lifetime warranty on the bodies.

The KG series force transducers excel at combining fast reponsiveness with high sensitivity.  These properties make them very suitable for measuring force in fast contractions such as those seen in skeletal and cardiac muscle.  A newer generation is being developed for slower contractions such as those seen in some smooth muscle and whole intact muscle.

Nearly all products in the SIH line use our unique transducer technology.  The
transducers require a special bridge amplifier and the combination is available for purchase from the company as an OEM product.  Please contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. To complement the wide range of applications from single cell force measurements (pN range) to skinned (μN range)and intact muscle fibers (mN range) we developed a set of 12 different mounting supports to attach tissues in the least traumatic or even most physiological way.  For example by leaving a piece of bone or tendon attached to hold the preparation.

Among others the described technologies are used in the following SIH products:
