Fluid & Temp Control - Cuvette Systems & Fluid Automation to match the research Meaningful in vitro research assumes that the tissue will behave as if in situ. Just as our linear motor allows the muscle to behave as a muscle the environment makes a big difference and can have profound effect on the experiment. But controlling the environment also creates opportunities for investigation. We have developed a set of cuvette systems to carefully match the requirements by the tissue and the experiment. Examples are the cooled storage position of skinned fibers in the TJUMP system, the fast warm to cold transition of (heart) muscle fibers for inducing rapid cooling contractures to assess sarcoplasmic reticulum calcium load. Other cuvettes have built-in quartz windows for optical access. We also use our laser technology and custom-built precision peristaltic pumps to provide highly stabilized fluid meniscus in low force (single cell & isolated fiber) applications and in a highly accurate automated gradient maker for automated force-pCa, ATPase activity and Oxygen consumption measurements. Among others the described technologies are used in the following SIH products: MKB research system - Muscle research system for intact and skinned muscle fibers OPT muscle research - Muscle research system with two optical paths for combined imaging studies FiberMic - An inverted microscope based muscle research system |
