SARCCAM - Sarcomere Length/Spacing Measurement System The SARCCAM system consists of a linear diode array detector coupled to a calibrated controller. Together with the laser diode system SD it allows the calibrated measurement of sarcomere length in striated muscle samples. The normal output is length as a calibrated voltage at 1000 samples per second (1 kHz). For faster rates or information contact us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . The SARCCAM can be combined with mechanical intact muscle parameter measurements in the Muscle Tester system. It can be combined with calcium measurements and myomechanics in intact and skinned muscle fibers on our MKB muscle research systems and, finally, it can be combined with calcium and myomechanics on isolated skinned fibers in the OPT research system. As an add-on to the SARCCAM we also have the PICO unit. The system consists of PicoScope and Picotimer. This unit will record and store the Gaussian distribution of sarcomere measurements from the preparation. Often deterioration of the quality of the muscle is missed since the average sarcomere spacing value changes little. However, a widening of the distribution indicates very early that more and more cells in the tissue are dying. Therefore this add-on is strongly recommended for experiment on intact muscle fibers and on skinned muscle preparations that are studied and challenged with calcium a temperatures above 5ºC. |
